Sheryl Takes Photos at Newspaper Rock, Canyonlands National Park, UT (2003)
Considered one of the finest examples of Native American petroglyphs, Newspaper rock contains many hundreds of depictions of symbolic elements important to the people who called this place their home. The oldest date to approximately 2,000 years ago and contributions have been made through the centuries by the Archaic, Anasazi, Fremont, Navajo, Anglo, and Pueblo cultures.
It was this first experience with the Native American past that has fueled or continuous fascination and desire to learn about the puebloan culture.
