Windswept Icicles Gills Rock, Door County, WI (January 22, 2016, 2:49 pm)
These icicles at Weborg Dock, sculpted by winds of varying force and direction, are blown into a blanket of strange forms. Although stationary, shooting these was anything but easy. Exposure had to be correct to capture subtlety in the tones of the ice. Composition were endless and finding the strongest patterns was a significant challenge. To find opportunities such as this is why I photograph. The sense of discovery and deep appreciation for nature's creations are long awaited rewards.
