Standing in my back yard, we watched a juvenile Blue Jay take his fledgling flight from a nest 20 feet above the ground. On the way down he plunked onto my shoulder, flapped to the ground and hopped into a nearby Japanese bittersweet shrub. He stayed in the shrub long enough to make several images - unafraid of our presence.
