Quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite images, there is a unique quality to the sky in this image. Typically we see at the horizon clouds diminishing to smaller and smaller whisps in the extreme distance. With this scene, the 1,000 foot monolith seems to be floating in the sky with the cloud backdrop "tipped in". This adds an element of mysticism to the image and makes it a very lasting one for me.
