Cow Moose in Willows, Rawlins, WY (May 13, 2013, 2:06pm)
In a willow marsh just south of Rawlins, Wyoming, I spotted this cow moose through a break in the trees while driving. Unfortunately, there was no good place to pull over, so it was a hike back from a turnoff to where we could view and photograph this beautiful animal. The day was exceedingly windy and in the course of taking these pictures, the wind whipped a piece of gravel up under Sheryl's eyelid. So, our trip to the Tetons began with a trip to an opthamologist to remove that.
But, we both did enjoy seeing this silvery, regal animal amongst the monochrome golden reeds of the willows - I love her pose and positioning in the tall grasses. In the end, it was a foreshadowing of two weeks of rich wildlife viewing.
