Fruita and Wingate Cliffs at Sunset, Capitol Reef Naitonal Park, UT (September 11, 2016, 8:21 pm)

And then there are the magic moments such as this.

Driving on Capitol Reef National Park's Scenic Drive, we were returning from a 4WD off-road trek through Capitol Gorge when we saw the clouds gathering just before sunset. We raced to a vantage point that provided several stunning views of the towering sandstone cliffs against rapidly changing sunset clouds. My only regret is that I was forced to shoot handheld and with very little prep time. All in all, however, I was really satisfied with the images we captured.

As quickly as I could compose and shoot, Sheryl would be hollering out a different scene unfolding often in the complete opposite direction. Regardless of the direction I looked, something amazing was happening and it was a feeding frenzy of images that was unfloding. The whole episode lasted about 30 minutes (longer than we expected) and made for an experience that we'll never forget.
