Pastel Pillars, Capitol Reef Naitonal Park, UT (September 13, 2016, 1:43 pm)

On one the country's highest rated 4WD backcountry roads through the extremely picturesque 4WD drive to the Burr Trail Switchbacks in Capitol Reef National Park, we encountered this colorful canyon with rick, pastel colored sandstone pillars. The structures reminded me of what could be made years ago out of Silly Sand.

I just loved the overall serenity of the scene following the white-knuckled ascent of the switchbacks.
