Snow-capped Mt. Rundle, Banff National Park, Canada (September 16, 2006, 12:07pm)

In Banff National Park, calm waters provide spectacular reflections of the Canadian Rockies. Mt. Rundle looks like a mountain that's been through a cheese slicer and with a white coating from the season's first snow, this scene is one of my favorites.

So much for no good photos happen around mid-day...

Photos of reflections are usually most powerful when the reflection is given approximately 50% of the frame, as in this case. The fairly still waters of the Vermilion Lakes nicely mirror Mt. Rundle's fresh first snow of the season.
